Our mission is to transport our guests back to a time of quaint country shops. Local artisans displayed and sold their antique wares in picturesque towns with old-fashioned values.
Our world will include a family friendly atmosphere and host special events consistent with our theme. We will continually seek the most talented vendors, who will form the framework of our marketplace, provide excellent customer service and share our vision of yesteryear.
Several years ago, Tammy Ireland purchased what was once the Eldred Township Elementary School in Eldred, PA. Thinking she was just going to the auction at the school to buy old desks and chairs, she hadn’t intended to put in a bid for the school building, but she did. After transforming 6,000 square feet inside the building, sprucing up the outside, and adding a 57 foot deck – complete with rocking chairs – she was set for a Grand Opening in September 2012.
Prior to this, Tammy owned a smaller building called Old Paths Country Store down the road. She had moved her store into the school building while making proper renovations upstairs. She never expected to become a small business owner, but when her husband, Bruce, began crafting birdhouses and benches with their son, there was a lot of interest in them. The pieces received so much praise from their friends and family that they decided to sell them at local craft fairs. They also received a number of requests for larger items such as desks, shelves, and chairs. Essentially, they got to the point where they needed to showcase their work and their first country store was born.
For over a decade they have used their rustic furnishings to display a variety of American-made primitives and collectibles. However, when the opportunity presented itself to expand their showroom, they decided to create a rustic country world where local artisans could display their wares in a unique and inviting setting, with an atmosphere that takes visitors back to a simpler time. Olde Schoolhouse Village Shoppes is now comprised of nearly 100 local vendors who contribute antiques, reclaimed treasures, and handcrafted items that add to the store’s unique country charm.
